Campaign of the Month: August 2011
Le Ballet de l'Acier
Auberge de la Reine Jeanne
Located in the Lower City, the Queen Joan Inn was built in the fourteenth century and named for the reigning monarch of the kingdom of Naples. It is arguably the most elegant lodging in Marseille, catering to the city’s noble visitors and the wealthiest merchants. The tile floors are covered with thick carpets from the Levant, and the walls decorated with artwork and tapestries. The inn features its own stables, a rarity in the cramped confines of Marseille.
The cellars and kitchen of the Queen Joan are rivaled in variety and quality only by the gentlemen’s club Le Bon Roi René.
