Le Ballet de l'Acier
The Durance River flows east to west across Provence, originating in the southwest Alps and merging with the Rhône River near Avignon. It is steep-walled as it flows out of the mountains, but forms a broad fertile plain along its lower reaches between the Luberon Massif and the Alpilles. Its major affluent is the Verdon River.
