Le Ballet de l'Acier
Vallée de la Seine
Across the Île-de-France and Haute-Normandie stretches the valley of the Seine River, a meandering watercourse connecting Paris to the Manche (Channel) port city of Rouen. The river winds its way in great loops past plateaus with chalky cliffs, verdant marshes, and fields and orchards set among forests, towns, and looming chateaux.
Most of the river traffic consists of heavily-laden barges pulled by oxen along the towpaths on either bank of the Seine.
