Pierres de La Corbière, sieur de Saint-Alar

Cadet subaltern in the Normandy Regiment

Description:

SR 8

Bio:

A Breton, Pierres de La Corbière is a cadet, a young nobleman serving as an ensign to a musketeer company in the Normandy Regiment since 1623. Saint-Alar (b. 1604) saw action in the campaign against Genoa in 1625.

Saint-Alar’s uncle – his mother’s brother – is Laurent du Grenniers, seigneur de Lamoye, a lieutenant of the Cardinal’s Guard and a personal friend of Cardinal Richelieu.

Saint-Alar was popular with the other officers in the regiment, despite a reputation for irritability born of hubris, but many lost their confidence in the ensign following a duel in which Saint-Alar dishonored himself by his conduct.
