Le Ballet de l'Acier
Normand draft and cavalry horse
Fair to Superb draft and cavalry horse.
The Percheron originated in Le Perche, a region of Normandie. They famously served as war horses carrying French gendarmes into battle – the breed is considered sure-footed and spirited, as well as possessing beauty and style. Over time these horses were bred for greater size, weight and strength, producing an excellent draft horse.
The Percheron’s coat is usually gray or black. They are marked by wide chests, strong backs, and powerful leg muscles. Their gaits are light, particularly for such a large horse. Percherons stand between 14.3 to 16.1 hands.
