Hôtel de Ville de La Rochelle

Constructed in the late fifteenth century, the imposing City Hall of La Rochelle resembles a Renaissance palace topped by Gothic battlements and towers, complete with gargoyles, statuary, and carvings. A bell tower overlooks a central courtyard decorated with Italianate arches forming a gallery and a monumental staircase leading to the great hall of the burghers of the city.
