Place de Lenche

The Place de Lenche, located immediately adjacent to the venerable Couvent de Saint Saveur, is named for the family de Lenche. Originally known as the Linci, the Corsican Lenche family established the coral fishing company at Bastion de France and made a significant fortune. Antoine de Lenche, a former consul of Marseille, was assassinated by members of the Catholic League for supporting the ascension of Henri IV to the throne of France late in the last century.
