Le Ballet de l'Acier
Compagnie du prince de Piémont
Alternately known as la compagnie du prince de Piémont and la compagnia del principe di Piemonte, the Company of the Prince of Piedmont is a travelling troupe of players. Specializing in the popular commedia dell’arte, the troupe may be found performing at fairs and markets throughout France and Italy. Summers are usually spent in Paris or Nancy, while winters find the players in Languedoc and Provence or on the far side of the Alps in Savoy and Milan.
Founded in 1619 by Gianbattista di Onda, the troupe has enjoyed command performances before the dukes of Savoy, Montmorency, and Guise and the Cardinal Savoia.
